Behind the scoop: Two Roosters ice cream is among best in the country
What started out in a turquoise blue ice cream truck has since grown into a multiple brick-and-mortar ice cream juggernaut.
Posted — UpdatedTwo Roosters started with an ice cream truck parked at The Cookery in Durham in 2014. Its first brick-and-mortar location followed in north Raleigh at the Greystone Village Shopping Center.
In 2018, the shop opened a pop-up location at Person Street Plaza in downtown Raleigh. That location at 215 E. Franklin St. was so popular it became permanent.
Two Roosters is known for its 10 "forever flavors" and a unique rotating list of monthly guest collaborations.
"The menu is very strategic," Plummer said in 2019 on the Out and About Podcast. "Using the food truck experience, there were a lot of flavors that I was able to vet during those years. Naturally, there's a few that popped up that were really popular, so going into the brick-and-mortar arena, I knew there were the regular flavors that were tried and true. People loved them and knew us for those flavors."
