Your Name in Flowers
Equipment:
- One 'flower mat', available at Wal-Mart or any garden store. The plants need to be rather short at maturity. We chose "Alyssum", which only grows to 4-6 inches.
- Scissors
- Permanent marker
- Potting soil (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the soil. It needs to be loose at least two inches down. You might need to mix in some potting soil. Make sure you take out all weeds and grass.
Lay out the flower mat, then fold in into layers, making it just long enough to write your name.
Use the permanent marker to write your name in block letters. Make the letters thick, but leave plenty of space between the 'legs' of the letters. Cut out the letters. Keep the scraps and plant them somewhere else!
Rake about 1/2 inch of dirt away from the top of your flower bed, and place the letters of your name. Leave at least 1 1/2 inches between each letter.
Cover the letters with 1/4 to 1/2 inches of dirt. Water well, and wait for your name to appear in flowers!
