Feet Prints

NOTE: Once we did this activity with preschoolers during the morning worship service at our church. When the adults came out, they were greeted with little footprints and a sign that read, "Watch your walk! Children are following your example." By the way, the little kids liked this activity, but I think the teenage assistants liked it even more!

Equipment:
  • Permission from parents!
  • Tempera paint
  • Metal baking pan or large plastic meat tray
  • Sidewalk
  • Bare feet

Instructions:

Put a thin layer of paint on the bottom of the pan or tray.

Take the tray to the edge of the sidewalk, step into the paint and walk on the sidewalk. When the paint begins to wear off, have a partner bring the paint tray to re-apply. Another option is to dip a paper towel into the paint, and use it to wipe paint on the bottom of the foot.

Variations: Use two colors, and paint each foot a different color. Have each child use a different color paint so the footprints are color coded. Paint only one foot for a hopping look. Our little neighbor walked on our sidewalk with his hands and feet!
