Skipagories
Equipment:
- Sidewalk
- Chalk
- Small Rock
Instructions:
Use chalk to draw a nine square grid on the sidewalk, three squares up and three squares across.
Write the name of a category in each grid. ~ Suggestions are: Boys' names, girls' names, flowers, trees, car models, states, countries, fruits, meats, vegetables, television shows, singing groups, nursery rhymes...
Put a rock in the first square; we'll say it says car models. The first player jumps over the first square to the second square, hops twice and says, "Lexus, Lexus". Without stopping or pausing, they move to the third square and says, "Ford, Ford", and so forth in an s-shape around the board, naming a different car model in each square. If the player misses a beat, they have to stop and try again on their next turn.
If the first player gets all the way around, they start on the second square on their next turn. For the second square, the player jumps all the way to the third square and begins hopping and naming items.
As each category is conquered, the player advances in an s-shape through all nine categories.
